![]() ![]() Yes, it looks like something from Noah's Ark, but it's cross platform, it's cheap, stable, reliable, fast and it is used by some top traditional authors. It's like a database and it links everything and anything you could possibly want to link to your manuscript where you can see all in one place while writing my pic of fiction. ![]() All these new fancy writer's software are web based and overly priced from $5 to over $200 per month which is quite ridiculous. The biggest issue for writer's of fiction is price, right now. The irony is nowadays everyone is moving to MS Word because Scrivener is bloated and over powered for fiction writers and those who are looking for even more simplified are moving to LivingWriter, Dabble, Google Docs and Microsoft 365 online while plotters are moving to Campfire, Plot Factory and Scribler. Word doesn't have great organization tools for writers but Scrivener does.Ī few years ago everyone was moving to Scrivener from MS Word because MS Word was bloated and over powered for fiction authors. No one author uses all the functions of MS Word to write their novel only what they need in MS Word. Scrivener is very easy to use for authors of fiction because the very few functions you will ever need for authoring your novel are easy to find and very quick to learn. In Scrivener you don't need to copy and paste but rather just drag and drop. In Scrivener it's very easy to move scenes and chapters around like musical chairs. MS Word can't move scenes and chapters around easily. It's so very overwhelming looking for a good software to help yourself to be a better more efficient writer. Dabble also works with my lifetime copy of WritingProAid. WriteItNow6 is low cost where you buy and own it for life, but I'm thinking of trying Dabble because apparently Dabble's free style Plotting grid function is all the rave right now. It's absolutely awesome for keeping track writing and linking everything to your manuscript so you can see it as you write. Apparently, they say they are better than Scrivener, Word, Google Docs, LivingWriter, Atticus and Plottr but I was uncomfortable with signing up when they show no back history or contact info and when searching the web there is pretty much nothing out there about them except for their website and what's in it? I have been using Cross Platform WriteItNow 6 which is like a database. I tried to find out where they were located but I couldn't so I did not sign up with them. All the posts on Chapterly are posted by people with only one name and no last name. I looked at but did not join because there is no contact address or phone number.
